P. Appunni Menon was the first President of Anakkara Grama Panchayath, formed in 1964. For long 21 years, he served he remained in the same position. His effforts were crucial to give the Panchayath a devleopment platform. He brought remarkable developments in communication, irrigation, transportation and other basic aspects of the Panchayath.
He had also served as an accountant in Indian Army.
